WEST AFRICAN SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES REVIEW
For Editors & Reviewers:POLICY ON GENERATIVE AI AND AI ASSISTED TECHNOLOGIES

Editors and reviewers must not upload manuscripts or any part of them to generative AI or AI assisted platforms that store or reuse uploaded content, in order to protect author confidentiality and intellectual property.

Peer review reports should be based on the reviewer’s own expert assessment and must not be delegated to AI systems. AI may not be used to rewrite or summarise confidential manuscript content.

Reviewers should examine the authors’ “Use of AI Assisted Tools” statement and, where relevant, consider whether the use of AI is appropriate and transparently reported.

Manuscripts and all associated correspondence received for review must be treated as strictly confidential.

Any concerns about misuse of AI by authors, reviewers, or editors should be reported promptly to the Editor-in-Chief and publisher for investigation in line with the journal’s ethics procedures.
